Which Passion Drives You ?
“Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” 2 Timothy 1:13,14 NASB
What is the passion that drives you? Is it success, family, sports, or work? The passion Apostle Paul had for the lost, drove him to continue his 2nd. missionary journey; this time, taking with him Timothy.
I. The Right Passion (Acts 9:15,16)
* Paul had to be preaching, or witnessing, or discipling, or visiting
* he could have just settled down in the large church in Antioch (14:26-28)
1 Corinthians 9:16 Paul’s passion was reaching the lost
* he is saying, for me, witnessing is not an option nor a suggestion
Colossians 3:23,24 enthusiasm: en / theos = In God (Ecc. 9:10)
* spiritually, we can never have too much passion or enthusiasm
Romans 13:7-12 wake out of lethargy and sleep
* look at Peter, James, John- even after 3 years w/ Jesus (Lu.22:39-46)
* establish your passion and priorities in Jesus Christ !
II. The Right Priority
* the Apostle Paul had the right priority- winning lost souls to Christ
* preach Christ- Not tradition (15:1,2)
* sometimes it is easy to lose our priorities
* we can get caught up in our own needs and forget about others
“Tell them to use their money to do good They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.” 1 Tim. 6:18,19 NLT
v.4,5 the right passion will lead to the right priority & message
“But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.” Acts 15:11
* Salvation is by grace alone, thru faith alone, in Christ alone !
