The Value Of Prayer “And they steadfastly persevered, devoting themselves constantly to the instruction and fellowship of the apostles, to the breaking of bread [including the Lord's Supper] and prayers.” Acts 2:42 Amp In church we often hear people asking for prayer. Many of us keep an intercessory prayer list so we don’t forget requests. Prayer is a vital and key component in individual and church family fellowship. Paul leaves for us this example written to the believers in Colosse to follow. Read: Colossians 1:1-12 v9 I. Be Filled With The Knowledge Of His Will * how are you going to do God’s will, if you don’t understand what it is that God would have you to do? * Paul prayed for the church that they would understand and perceive the will of God in their daily lives * Paul did not want the church guessing God’s will for their life * ask Him to fill you with the knowledge of His will for you also * tell the Lord you are willing to do whatever He asks of you- * surrender your time, talents and treasures to service for Him v10 II. In All Wisdom And Spiritual Understanding * it’s impossible to explain how important the Bible is in your life- * learn the principles found in the Word and practice them daily * grade school thru teens - read the Bible- * it will get you through your wondering exploratory years * in your twenties, it will help you when you seem to be standing alone in the world- as friends question your morals and beliefs * while raising children, you will need God’s encouragement and wisdom as you meet life's challenges * Fifties and beyond- read your bible because all generations need the guidance and Godly wisdom gray hair brings * Pass on your passion for the Word of God * it’s important to leave a legacy of trusting and knowing His will “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
