The Work Of The Holy Spirit

“The Helper is the Holy Spirit. The Father will send Him in My place. He will teach you everything and help you remember everything I have told you.”                                                    John 15:26 (ESV)

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity-  just as much God- as the Father and the Son.  The Holy Spirit is not some impersonal being; an “it, or some “divine force”.

Read John 16:5-11

note:  Three major aspects of the ministry of the Holy Spirit are:
            1)  v.8  to the world- conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment
            2)  v13  to the disciples- direction and truth
            3)  v14  to Jesus- revealing Him more perfectly to those who serve
Him

I.   v 7,8  The Holy spirit “reproves” /  convicts our heart
            *  not just convicting us of our sin, but brings an inescapable sense of guilt
            *  causes us to realize our shame and helplessness before an almighty righteous God
Romans 3:22,23; Romans 5:1  justified by our faith in Christ

II.  v 9-11  The Holy Spirit convinces us of our need to believe
Romans 1:16   power of God unto salvation
v 9  reveals the folly of rejecting God’s message
v 10  He reveals the holiness of God
v 11  reveals there is victory over Satan (already judged)

III.  v 12-15 He convinces us of our present and future victory
Romans 8:37-39 nothing shall separate us from God’s love
v 13  The Holy Spirit guides us
v 13  The Holy Spirit speaks to us
v 14  The Holy Spirit reveals God’s glory to us
v 15  The Holy Spirit gives us all things

The Holy Spirit is able to move upon the human heart in a powerful way to make us aware of His presence and of our own needs!
