The Holy City

            If you are certain that you have Eternal Life  through believing in Jesus Christ, then you will be living for all of eternity in the Holy City when you die.  Heaven will be your eternal home, you will be a citizen of that heavenly city.

I.                     The Heavenly Jerusalem

*  the exact location is not known, however, scripture refers to

God’s throne as being in the North  or/  Northern sky  (three heavens mentioned)

*  The new Jerusalem will rest upon a newly created planet

            2 Peter 3:9,10 ;  Revelation 6:13,14 ;  Revelation 21:1-3

*  even the patriarchs looked forward to entering that city

            Hebrews 11: 9-16 ;  12:22,23

II.  A Place of Beauty

            Revelation 21:15,16  a 1,500 mile cube w/ 216’ thick walls

*  it will be a bright- brilliant shining city w/ light streaming through its jasper walls and pearly gates and jeweled foundation.  WOW!  Unprecedented beauty

            Revelation 21:11,12  only the redeemed will enter its angel guarded gates-  no one who rejected God’s plan will be able to go

            Rev. 21:14,19,20  its foundation is made of precious stones

            Rev. 21:12,21  gates of pearl and a  main street paved with gold

*  today gold is precious, imagine God’s standard of value He places on this city

            Rev. 22:1-5  a river of crystal and the tree of life- no lights needed

III.  A Place of Peace

*  the pain, sorrow, and unhappiness of this earth will not be there

            Rev. 21:4,5  the effects of sin will be removed

*  no tears, no death, no sorrow or crying, no pain, no night, no curse

            Rev. 21:3  God will be ever present with us / He will protect us

            Rev. 22:3,5  we will have the pleasure of serving God forever

*  we will share in authority and the never ending blessings of God forever-   we will even be exalted above the angels
