The Genesis Of Sin and Judgment

“There is a way which seems right to a man; But its end is the way of death.”  Proverbs 14:12 (NASB)

  Genesis is the “Book of Beginnings”.  The beginning of time earth; the beginning of man; of animals and vegetation.  The beginning of worship, jealousy and death.   The beginning of idol worship, and slavery.

I. v. 1-5  The First Mention Of Satan        
          Isaiah 14:12-15  fallen angel            
*  he is subtle ( cunning, crafty )
*  he is the author of doubt
*  he is chief of liars- he twists the truth into lies  ( v. 5)
*  he is the ruler of an unseen kingdom opposed to God’ Kingdom

II.  v.6-15  The First Mention Of Sin  
*  sin is attractive & alluring-  pleasant to the eyes
*  sin is pleasurable
*  sin destroys-  look at Adam’s family:   Genesis 4:1-8  (4,8)
*  sin brings regret, heartache, sorrow, and destruction

III.  v.15  Sin’s Judgment  
And I will put enmity Between you (the serpent) and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel."

 Adam’s sin put God’s plan of redemption into motion : 
            Romans 6:23   the wages of sin  
            Romans 3:23-25  redemption by faith in Jesus Christ
            Ephesians 2:8,9  redemption is the gift of God to us
