The Genesis Of Sin and Judgment

“There is a way which seems right to a man; But its end is the way of death.”  Proverbs 14:12 (NASB)

  Genesis is the “Book of Beginnings”.  The beginning of time earth; the beginning of man; of animals and vegetation.  The beginning of worship, jealousy and death.   The beginning of idol worship, and slavery.

But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”        Genesis 2:16 ,17 (NLT)  

I. v. 1-5  The First Mention Of Satan        
          Isaiah 14:12-15  fallen angel            
*  he is subtle ( cunning, crafty )
*  he is the author of doubt
*  he is chief of liars- he twists the truth into lies  ( v. 5)
*  he is the ruler of an unseen kingdom opposed to God’ Kingdom
            Ephesians' 6:12
            Revelation 20:10   final judgment revealed

II.  v.6-15  The First Mention Of Sin  
*  sin is attractive & alluring-  pleasant to the eyes
*  sin is pleasurable
*  sin destroys-  look at Adam’s family:   Genesis 4:1-8  (4,8)
*  sin brings regret, heartache, sorrow, and destruction

III.  v.15  Sin’s Judgment  
And I will put enmity Between you (the serpent) and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel."  Gen.3:15  (NASB)

 Adam’s sin put God’s plan of redemption into motion : 
            Romans 6:23   the wages of sin  
            Romans 3:23-25  redemption by faith in Jesus Christ
            Ephesians 2:8,9  redemption is the gift of God to us
