Priceless Gift Of Freedom In Christ

“I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Through Christ- and only  through Christ can you be free and live free!  Free from, Sin’s penalty, God’s wrath, Satan’s continual domination, and under the Old Testament Law’s curse.

Read:  Galatians 5:1-6

I.   v1a  It Is For Freedom That Christ Has Set Us Free

            Isaiah 42:6,7  Christ came to set us free from spiritual blindness

            Isaiah 61:1  Christ came to proclaim liberty from sin’s bondage

II.  v1b Stand Firm Then 

          II Corinthians 3:17   Where the Lord's Spirit is- there’s liberty

*Enjoy this freedom that Christ has given you by His sacrifice.  The yoke of sin’s consequence has been lifted.

III.  v2-6  Consequences Of Embracing Works 

*Christ’s death would then have No value

* We can not seek God’s favor based upon our own performance

* Christ does not need our assistance to save us !

IIII.  v4  Sanctifying Grace Would Be Rendered Meaningless

            Isaiah 64:6  we would be failures in our iniquities (inadequate)

            Philippians 3:9,10  we need to be embracing Him

* God can not accept us based upon our own righteousness

V.  v5,6  Faith Replaces Works 

            Matthew 7:22,23  “wonderful” works are meaningless to God

            Galatians 2:16   we can not or ever will be justified by works

            Ephesians 2:8,9  by His grace alone can we be saved and enjoy spiritual freedom from sin’s bondage
