Our Eternal Home

Just the mention of heaven brings many questions to mind.  Heaven is mentioned in the Bible more than 600 times.   Is there really such a place?    Who will be there?  Where is it?  Will everyone go there?  When will I be there?

The good news is, Christians do believe there is such a place prepared for those who have committed their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him here on earth.

I.  Heaven is God’s Dwelling Place

            Isaiah 57:15 ;  1 Kings 8:22,23,30 ;   Psalm 103:19

*   it is the habitation of God

*  God’s presence is everywhere, but His dwelling place is heaven

            Daniel 4:1,2; 34-37

*  God the almighty King, rules in majesty over His creation-  He holds all things together by His mighty power and permission

*  it is folly to speak against heaven’s existence  Psalm 2:1-5

*  God only needs to speak from heaven- His Throne, and all His enemies will be destroyed

*  but, He also accepts our worship and hears our prayers to Him :

            2 Chronicles 7:12-16 ;    2 Samuel 22:4-7

*  angels-  are also there with Him as His servants :

            Hebrews 1:5,13,14 ;  12:22 ;  Daniel 7: 9,10

II.  Heaven Is Home To the Departed Saints

*  death does not end all-  there is an eternal resting place Heaven or hell

*  for those who put their faith and trust in the resurrection power and salvation of Jesus Christ, Heaven is an absolute promise.  Period.

*  physical death occurs when the soul is separated from the body

*  spiritual death is the eternal separation of the soul from God

*  believers who are separated from family here on earth are never

separated from the presence of God :

            John 5:24 ; John 6:40,47 ; 11:25,26 ;  Luke 23:42,43

*  those who have died in Christ will enter into the presence of God :

            2 Corinthians 5:6-8    John 17:23,24

*  sadly, not everyone will enter into that heavenly home- Rev. 20:15

*  John 3:16,36   our eternal hope and home is in heaven with God the Father,  and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior forever
