Formation Flying
“You obey the
law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.” It seems there are more flocks of geese than ever. They seem to be everywhere. However, when they decide to fly South for the winter, there are some things we as a church can learn from them. Read: Acts 2: 41-43 I Fellowship * fellowship means, to have in common, to share, to participate for a common cause Philippians 1:3-6 fellowship in the Gospel * as Christians, what are we doing to promote a common purpose 1 John :5-7 the necessity of fellowship * feeding on the ground attracts a flock- then taking flight, for geese, flying in formation is fellowship * by flying is a “V” formation, the whole flock increases it’s range Romans 15:1 the strong help the weak * have you ever seen a group of geese heading out in all directions as they fly south- never, they have a goal in common * when a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag & resistance of trying to go it alone- it quickly gets back in the formation * as a church family, we are on a journey to Heaven together II Sharing The Workload * in a church, 80% of the work gets done by 20% of the people * it then becomes too easy to be discouraged and burned out * when the lead goose gets tired, he rotates to the back of the “V’ * by instinct, geese share the work load among all the geese 1 Corinthians 12:12,13 being many, in Christ, we are one * sharing the workload- ensures the work will get done with purpose III. Encouragement * have you ever heard a flock of geese flying overhead- * they honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep going 1 Thessalonians 5:11 therefore encourage one another Hebrews 3: 13,14 keep encouraging to the end * observing geese makes the church stronger- accomplish more * let’s fly in formation and keep honking to each other |
