20 “They didn't ask questions,  
but simply dropped their nets and followed.” (Msg)

John 1:35-42  following John the Baptist, Jesus begins His ministry  
                              by calling Peter & Andrew, James & John

Read: Matthew 4:18-22

As Jesus began His ministry, we know He called 12 ordinary men to become His disciples:  1) to learn of Him, 2) to be those who would later teach His message, 3) Jesus came to them as they were-  in their everyday life  
Notice v20,  He did not tell them where they would go, he did not say “take care of things’ get your affairs in order then come follow me.  Study first- so you can understand me.”

vs18,19  Peter and Andrew called

            Luke 14:25 ,26  “... if any man come to me...”  
            Matt. 10: 37   “...he that loves father or mother...”

v20  Obedient to His calling

            They didn’t ask where they were going, or how long they would be gone, nor how much luggage and clothes should they pack  
            Matt. 16:24-27  dedication rewarded

v21      James and John called  

            They left their boat, their security,  and their father behind !  
            Hebrews 11:6  “...He is the rewarder of them who seek Him”

v22  Obedient to calling

            Notice: no excuses or/  hesitation to follow Him  
            Luke 9:57-62  willing, but excuses made  
            John
1:12   He equips us  
            John 17:6-10, 20,21  prays for us  
            John 14:1-3  He prepares for us

He met them, He called them, He prayed for them, He worked with them

God doesn’t look at your ability, He looks for your Availability !
