Come

The word, come, usually means to come join in a particular activity or event.  It requires a decision on our part, followed by some action.  We either choose to come and join in, or reject the offer.  When Jesus says to you, “Come”, you’d better go.

Read:  Mark 1:14-18

I.  Come : Salvation

*  come- can bring salvation to those who receive and  obey

Genesis 6:14-22 the ark is a symbol of salvation

Genesis 7:1  for Noah and his family it meant salvation  (6:22)

2 Timothy 1:7,9  God designed salvation for us also (eternal)

John 10:9  Jesus is our only door of salvation

II.  Come Out : Separation

*  for our own spiritual good, we are asked to be separate ( holy )

2 Corinthians 6:16-18   so that we can be one with Him

*  in this case, come is a command not an invitation

2 Corinthians 5:17  we must follow a new path of life

2 Timothy 2:19  for our own good,  we must heed this

III. v.17   Come After Me : Soul Winning

*  make you to become  fishers of men

*  we’re not just to be “keepers of the aquarium”, but fishers of men

*  sometimes our efforts are geared more in making the church building look good- rather than spending the time with the fish!

IV.  Come And Follow  Me :  Sacrifice

*  sometimes, coming means giving up what we think is so precious

            Matthew 19: 16-22

*what do you hold dear that could be more important than salvation

            Romans 12:1,2

*  sometimes it takes being a friend to someone else first

*  building relationships takes sacrifice of our time and money

Think about this;  what if John had not obeyed to “come up” when called in Revelation 4:1

When Jesus invites us to “come”,  we must respond immediately !
